Anytime I start working on a project, my first thought is “Hope the client is a plant lover like me and that there will be enough natural light to incorporate as much plants as I want!”.

This first article in a long line is a real invitation to dive in total immersion into the heart of nature, its role in interior design and its benefits.

Hoping that after reading, you will rush in a plant shop!

Today in the realm of interior design, the mind-blowing power of live house plants should not be overlooked. These natural wonders have the ability to bring life into interior spaces, creating a harmonious and welcoming atmosphere.

Why add plants inside a space?

Indoor plants are mainly used for decorative purpose but they can also play a bigger role in interior design by adding volume, texture, and a sense of depth. Thanks to their natural, organic and sculptural shape, some plants can even be considered as true piece of art. By reflecting generously natural light, plants will definitely create an eye striking effect and a well-balanced visual harmony inside spaces. Last but not least, they will subtly bring shade of color especially to very neutral minimalist, scandinavian or transitional interior design styles.

In addition to their aesthetic appeal, plants can be the perfect ally to improve the air quality inside a home. Most of them act as natural air purifiers and some can even absorbe harmful pollutants. This not only enhances the health and well-being of the occupants but creates a cleaner and purer living environment.

Furthermore, plants have the power to create a connection with nature. Incorporating live plants into interiors allows to bring the beauty of the outdoors inside, fostering a sense of peace and serenity. Whether by creating a lush jungle or opting for a minimalist approach with a few well-placed plants, the presence of indoor plants will undoubtedly enhance the overall atmosphere of a space.

What are the benefits of having plants in interiors?

Apart from their air quality properties, real plants also have a positive impact on mental health. Being surrounded by nature, even indoors, reduces stress levels and increases feelings of calmness and relaxation. Creating a sanctuary at home with live plants can be a powerful way to find a peaceful mind.

Additionally, having greenery in your workspace or study area plants have been found to also boost productivity and enhance creativity by increasing focus and concentration.

Finally, indoor gardening provides a sense of fulfillment and purpose. Nurturing and watching plants thrive can be a rewarding experience, fostering a deeper connection with nature.
